Frequently Asked Questions
How does What's Open? get its hours information?
Hours and business information are sourced from the Google Places API, the same data that powers Google Maps. Hours are verified by Google and reflect the most current information available.
Why does a business show the wrong hours?
Hours come directly from Google's database. If hours appear incorrect, the most reliable way to fix them is to suggest an edit directly on Google Maps, which will update the data across all apps including What's Open?
What is the daily search limit?
Free users can perform a limited number of searches each day, and the limit resets daily. Upgrade to What's Open? Pro for unlimited searches.
I purchased Pro but it isn't showing as active. What do I do?
Tap the "Restore Purchase" button on the upgrade screen. This will check your Apple purchase history and restore your Pro status. If the issue persists, please
contact support.
Does the app work without location access?
Yes. You can manually type any address into the location bar to search businesses near that address. Location access is only needed for the "Use My Location" GPS feature.
Why does the app need my location?
Your location is used to show nearby businesses and to prioritize relevant search results. It is never stored or shared. See our
Privacy Policy for full details.
What does "Temporarily Closed" mean?
This means the business has indicated to Google that it is temporarily closed, but is expected to reopen. This is different from being closed for the night or permanently closed.
Is my data sold or shared with advertisers?
No. What's Open? does not sell your data, does not display ads, and does not share your information with advertisers. See our
Privacy Policy for full details.
